Frost that chills extremities,
We slip, then slide, fall to our knees,
Our joys are shared with family,
That all year round we never see,
We drink too much and stand at bars,
Then we’re karaoke stars
The season never goes as planned,
Yet we all hail Winter Wonderland.
Through smeared lenses I see the World,
The reality though is clear,
I have no need to speak its name,
For now, let’s call it fear,
We cower and avoid ourselves,
We’re wrapped up in our beds,
But the scariest of monsters are,
The ones inside our heads.
He sits in darkness, waiting there,
In the dead of night,
As you walk by his hand shoots out,
Giving you a fright,
But this is not the Grim Reaper,
He wont whisk you far away,
This is just a homeless man,
Who sleeps here every day.
Rhythmic clocks toll the hour,
In unison they chime,
The hands move on, today is gone,
We cannot turn back time.
Oh what to have for dinner,
I’m not sure what’ll be,
So a beer and a burger,
That will do for me.
Sitting in the corner,
Staring right at me,
Is a little spider,
Happy as can be,
I don’t like arachnids,
They scare me quite a lot,
So he knows that he’s winning,
And is safe there in his spot.
I’d like to be a boxer,
But I don’t like getting hit,
So as far as my ideas go,
This one is total……..
I thought about a tattoo,
But was unsure as to where,
I couldn’t have one on my back,
As I’ve far too much hair,
I’m starting to get dizzy,
My head is in a spin,
I thought that I’d drunk water,
But it turns out it was gin
As you sit in warmth, watching tv,
Pause just momentarily,
For those who do not have a home,
The streets their bed, their endless roam,
No food to eat, no proper care,
Mostly ignored as if not there,
Just think of what you’d have to do,
One day that person could be you.
